Technical Knowledge Essential to Achieve Goals of Madrasa Education: Shahadat Hossain

Madrasa teachers must also keep themselves updated with the changing times. Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Directorate of Madrasa Education Muhammad Shahadat Hossain said every madrasa teacher and student should keep pace with technological development while remaining committed to the Quran and Sunnah.
On Thursday (October 1), a high-level delegation of Bangladesh Jamiatul Modarressin, a professional non-political organisation of madrasa teachers and employees, led by its Secretary General Principal Shabbir Ahmad Momtazi, paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Director General of the Directorate of Madrasa Education.
During the meeting, Director General Muhammad Shahadat Hossain thanked everyone present and said that everyone associated with madrasa education is a bearer and representative of Islam. He said that it is extremely difficult to provide proper Islamic guidance to children, adolescents and young people in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution while remaining behind in information technology.
“Therefore, to achieve the goals and objectives of madrasa education, teachers and students must update themselves with the times and become more proficient in technological knowledge,” he said.
He further said he was aware of the role of Jamiatul Modarressin in developing and advancing madrasa education. He expressed hope that if the Directorate of Madrasa Education and the country’s ulema work together, all existing problems in madrasa education would be resolved, InshaAllah.
During the meeting, he discussed various important issues, including resolving the problems of teachers at the madrasa Ebtedayee level, addressing the shortage of madrasa manpower, transfer-related complications, recruitment problems and establishing a permanent building for the Directorate of Madrasa Education. He also advised Jamiatul Modarressin to play a strong role in resolving these issues.
At the courtesy meeting, the organisation’s Secretary General Principal Shabbir Ahmad Momtazi said that all the achievements made in madrasa education since independence had been achieved based on the demands raised by Jamiatul Modarressin.
He said the organisation’s late president, Maulana M. A. Mannan (Rah.), had taken far-sighted plans and initiatives for the welfare of madrasa teachers, and they are now benefiting from those efforts.
He added that the organisation’s current president, Alhaj A. M. M. Bahauddin, is also working tirelessly and selflessly for the welfare of madrasa teachers, employees and students while upholding the ideals of his late father.
He said the current Prime Minister of the country, Tarique Rahman, has a very close relationship with the president of Jamiatul Modarressin. He added that the organisation’s president had close relations with the late former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and all members of the Zia family.
“We are always working to utilise these good relations to further advance madrasa education,” he said.
He further said that Jamiatul Modarressin president Alhaj A. M. M. Bahauddin is not merely a leader of madrasa teachers and employees; all the country’s Haqqani pirs and mashaikh also hold him in high regard and remain by his side by seeking his advice on various matters.
Addressing the Director General of the Directorate of Madrasa Education, he said, “We were pleased to learn that you are a madrasa education-friendly person. We see a ray of hope in your interest in the development of madrasa education and those associated with it, as well as in your efforts over a short period.”
“We are delighted to have someone as prudent, farsighted and wise as you as the Director General,” he said, assuring the Director General that all leaders of Jamiatul Modarressin would stand beside him in implementing his good intentions.
Also present at the meeting were Directorate of Madrasa Education Director (Administration and Finance) Muhammad Mozammel Hossain Khan, Director (Training and Development) Md. Abul Kalam Talukdar and Deputy Director (Administration) Md. Shamiul Islam Pramanik.
