Mistakes on the Streets Are Lessons in Becoming a True Leader, Not Failures: Prince Mahmud

Following Engineer Ishraque Hossain’s resignation as State Minister for Liberation War Affairs, his political future has become a topic of discussion on social media. Amid the debate, lyricist, music director and singer Prince Mahmud has expressed his hopes for Ishraque’s political journey, saying he hopes Ishraque will learn from his mistakes and one day become a mature and visionary leader.

In a social media post, Prince Mahmud referred to Ishraque’s father, the late BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka. He wrote that the bond between Mr. Khoka and his son would naturally remain strong, adding that Ishraque carries a sense of responsibility inherited from his father.

“Raised with a father’s affection, he now has to navigate life without his father, and mistakes are inevitable. But these experiences will help him correct his mistakes and one day become a mainstream, mature, visionary and modern leader. A legacy inherited through blood is never wasted,” Prince Mahmud wrote.

The music personality also offered a positive perspective on the mistakes Ishraque has made in his political career. According to him, mistakes made on the streets do not always signify failure; rather, they can serve as a training ground for becoming a true leader.

“ Mistakes on the streets are not always failures; they are a school for becoming a true leader. Ishraque can be found standing beside people during times of crisis. However, let there be no more mistakes,” Prince Mahmud wrote.

His remarks reflect both his expectation that Ishraque will learn from his mistakes and his recognition of Ishraque’s presence during difficult times. He expressed optimism that Ishraque would provide more mature political leadership in the future.

Ishraque Hossain announced his resignation as state minister at a press conference at the National Press Club in the capital on Monday. The President subsequently accepted his resignation. The Cabinet Division confirmed the development in a notification issued on Tuesday, October 20, formally ending Mr. Ishraque’s tenure as State Minister for Liberation War Affairs.
