Cabinet approves proposal to move the Secretariat

The cabinet approved the proposal to move the Bangladesh Secretariat to the old Trade Fair ground in Agargaon, Sher e Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. The cabinet meeting took place yesterday at the Secretariat, and Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman chaired it.

Cabinet Secretary Mr. Nasimul Gani shared this news at a press briefing after the meeting. He spoke in the conference room of the Department of Information (PID). The cabinet said the government is moving ahead with a target to run offices from the new Secretariat at Sher e Bangla Nagar by 2029.

Officials say the proposed cost of the Secretariat relocation project is Tk 3,409 crore 44 lakh 29 thousand. The project will run from November this year to December 2029.
