MPs to elect president on August 20

Members of Parliament will cast their votes in Bangladesh’s 23rd presidential election on August 20. Voting will take place in the Parliament Building’s session room from 2 pm to 5 pm. Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni formally announced the schedule in a letter signed on Monday, August 10. The letter asked all MPs to arrive at the designated session room on time to exercise their voting rights under the Presidential Election Act, 1991, in accordance with the schedule set by the Election Commission. Copies of the letter were also sent to the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and relevant officials of the Parliament Secretariat.
