New Pay Scale for Garment Industry Within Two Months: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has stated that the wage board formed for the garment industry will determine the minimum wage for workers within a month or two. He made this remark on Thursday afternoon during a street rally at Katakhali intersection in Bagerhat on the Khulna-Mongla highway.

The PM said, ‘Over the past few days, you have noticed that certain individuals have been attempting to create chaos in some areas of Dhaka. We know that our brother and sister workers have some demands regarding their wages.’

‘You have seen that we have already formed a wage board to consider and review those demands. The wage board has already commenced its work,’ Tarique Rahman added.

The PM stated, ‘I believe that no working brother or sister, no worker brother or sister, can ever harm the industry. However, we have observed through newspapers and various media outlets that these troublemakers, these instigators of chaos, are going to various factories, destroying these factories, vandalizing vehicles, vandalizing machinery, and destroying factories.’
