Regarding Spending Elsewhere Money Vowed to Feed Mosque Worshippers

Osman Ali Mondal From Email

Question: A vow was made to use the money from the first month’s salary after getting a job to feed the worshippers at a mosque. Can the money instead be given to a mosque, madrasa or poor people without feeding the worshippers?

Answer: No. This is because feeding the worshippers is not merely an act of charity or almsgiving. It is like a promise and must be fulfilled. Charity and almsgiving are a different matter.
