South Africa Operates 7.6km-Long Freight Train

South Africa has achieved a major milestone in rail transport and heavy freight operations by successfully running a freight train measuring around 7.6 kilometres, setting a new world record for the longest train, according to the report.
Designed to transport iron ore and other minerals, the massive train consisted of around 375 wagons hauled by several powerful electric locomotives. Advanced radio communications and automatic remote braking technology were used to manage the train’s enormous length and weight.
Railway authorities said the system would allow large quantities of raw materials to be transported directly to ports in a single journey, significantly reducing transport costs and boosting the country’s export trade.
