32 CCTV Cameras Installed to Monitor Baggage Handling at Dhaka Airport

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has taken a new initiative to improve passenger services, strengthen baggage security, and ensure transparency and accountability in baggage handling at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
As part of the initiative, 32 CCTV cameras and 18 65-inch monitors have been installed in areas covering eight baggage belts at the airport. The new system will allow passengers to watch different stages of baggage handling live on the monitors. The footage will cover the entire process, from unloading baggage from aircraft and transporting it to designated areas to sorting it and delivering it to the baggage belts.
This will give passengers a clearer understanding of how their baggage is handled and keep them informed throughout the baggage collection process. The initiative is expected to improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability in baggage management.
CAAB spokesperson Muhammad Kowshar Mahmud said the authority was committed to protecting passengers’ interests, ensuring safe and comfortable travel, and developing an airport management system that meets international standards.
He added that CAAB was continuing to expand technology-based, passenger-friendly services so that all passengers, including expatriate Bangladeshis and foreign travellers, could collect their baggage smoothly and without worry after their journeys. The initiative marks an important step towards improving passenger services at the country’s main international airport.
