Abhijit Calls PM Modi ‘Coward and Rioter’ Upon Release

Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has termed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘coward and rioter.’ He made the scathing remarks against PM Modi on social media on Sunday morning, October 11, shortly after being released on court orders following nearly 24 hours in police custody in Delhi. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Abhijit wrote, ‘Modi as Prime Minister is a shame for India. The country has never seen such a coward and rioter before.’
On Saturday, October 10, the CJP had planned a protest in Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. In connection with the demonstration, police detained Abhijit Dipke alongside party co-convenor Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. They were released on Sunday following orders from an executive magistrate in Delhi.
According to CJP’s legal head, the release came with the condition that the leaders cannot engage in any activity that disturbs peace and order for the next year. Meanwhile, the organization announced plans to continue protests on Sunday to object to the detentions, with a press conference scheduled for 2:00 PM the same day.
Earlier on Saturday, the three leaders were taken into custody from inside an aircraft just minutes after landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, Air India flight AI 2428 landed at 10:18 AM and was directed to remote parking bay R12, where the police subsequently detained them.
