Government Advancing Action Plan to Ensure Girls’ Education and Safety: PM

Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman has said the government is moving ahead with clear policies and plans to ensure the education, safety, dignity and future of girl children. He said the government wants to make sure no girl’s dream stops because of money problems, lack of safety or discrimination. The present government has promised that every girl child will get an equal chance to grow. She will build her skills, her confidence and her education.

The Prime Minister said this in a message yesterday for National Girl Child Day 2026. The day is being observed today. This year’s theme is “No more child marriage, daughters will conquer the world”. He said it is the duty of the state to let every girl grow up safely and follow her dreams freely. The present government is firm in carrying out this duty.

Mr. Tarique Rahman said the girl children of today will build the Bangladesh of tomorrow. If they get the chance to grow their talent, creativity and dreams, they will build a more knowledgeable, humane and prosperous country. He said everyone must make a stronger promise on this day to protect the rights and dignity of every girl child. Society must also stand up against child marriage and all forms of discrimination.

He said wider access to education is one of the main conditions for girls to grow up free and safe. In this context, he said the late former Prime Minister Ms. Begum Khaleda Zia gave women free education up to Class Twelve. The present government has continued her work. It has now opened free education for women up to the postgraduate level.

The Prime Minister said the government is working tirelessly to build a state and a society where the birth of a girl will bless her family. No girl’s studies should stop for any reason. He said every girl must get the chance to move ahead as she wishes and as she is able. A society that is healthy, educated and advanced can be built only by giving the girl child of today proper education, love, rights and opportunities.

He also said women’s political and economic empowerment is closely linked to the safe growth of girl children. As a key step to ensure women’s economic empowerment, the government is issuing a Family Card in the name of the woman head of every family. The government has also started work on several projects for the education, health, nutrition and social protection of girl children and women. The Prime Minister hopes these steps will clear the way to education, skills and self reliance for girl children.

He said the government wants a safe environment where every girl can walk, learn, speak and share her views without fear. The family, society and the state must all play a responsible part in protecting the safety, dignity and rights of girls, both in real life and online. He said the role of society, schools and above all the family is very important for the safe growth of girl children. Everyone must work together for this.

Mr. Tarique Rahman said Bangladesh can be built by turning the dreams of girl children into strength, their education into ability and their promise into success. He said everyone should promise a safe, equal and hopeful future for girl children. On National Girl Child Day, the Prime Minister sent warm greetings and good wishes to all girl children of Bangladesh, their guardians and the people of the country.
