LPG to Be Suspended Nationwide for Two Days

The LPG Traders Cooperative Association Limited has announced a two-day suspension of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sales across Bangladesh. According to the association, all gas shops across the country will remain closed on Thursday and Friday, October 15 and 16.
Association President Selim Khan announced the decision at a press conference held at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Monday. He said the traders would suspend sales for two days to protest harassment of LPG businesses.
He said traders were repeatedly facing harassment over gas cylinder prices and supply issues. In protest, all shops would remain closed on Thursday and Friday. He also warned that the traders would launch a tougher movement if their demands were not met.
The latest LPG price hike took place on October 4. Under the revised rates, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) increased the price of a 12-kilogram LPG cylinder by Tk 252 to Tk 1,837.
