All Madrasas Nationwide Directed to Hold Cultural Competitions for Nazrul Year Celebrations

All madrasas across the country have been instructed to organise cultural competitions to mark Nazrul Year and promote the literary works and music of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Madrasas at the Ebtedayee, Dakhil, Alim, Fazil and Kamil levels have been asked to organise the competitions on their own.
Following a directive from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Technical and Madrasah Education Division of the Ministry of Education issued a letter on the matter on Tuesday (October 13). The Directorate of Madrasah Education also sent letters to principals, superintendents and Ebtedayee heads of all madrasas, as well as district education officers and upazila secondary education officers, asking them to take necessary measures.
According to the letter, the initiative aims to promote the practice of Nazrul’s works, preserve his creations, engage students in cultural activities, develop creativity and identify new talent. It also emphasises fostering unity, harmony and mutual cooperation among students.
The competitions will include Nazrul’s Islamic songs and ghazals, hamd and naat, poetry recitation, solo acting, essay writing, solo dance, prepared speeches and impromptu speeches.
Separate categories and competition topics have been set according to students’ educational levels so that they can participate based on their interests and abilities.
Participants in the essay competition must submit original, handwritten essays and use references where necessary. The word limit has been set at 500 to 2,000 words, depending on the students’ educational levels.
According to the directive, the competitions are scheduled to continue until October 31. The concerned madrasas have been asked to organise the events on their own within this period.
