Pakistan Claims Successful Test of Extended-Range Fatah-2 Missile

Pakistan’s military has claimed a successful test launch of the extended-range Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile. The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced the test on Tuesday, Geo TV News reported.
According to an ISPR statement, the Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER) weapon system features advanced navigation technology and state-of-the-art avionics. The military claimed that the missile can strike targets with high precision and evade enemy missile defence systems.
The statement also said the missile’s specialised flight trajectory and ability to change direction mid-flight enhance its effectiveness. Its extended range will allow the Pakistan Army to strike targets farther away, ISPR said.
The test was witnessed by the head of Pakistan Army’s Army Rocket Force Command, senior military officials, and scientists and engineers involved in the programme. The commander praised the dedication and technical expertise of the scientists and engineers involved in developing the missile.
Following the test, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and the chiefs of the three armed services congratulated the scientists and engineers involved.
A few days earlier, Pakistan had announced the successful test of an extended-range version of its indigenously developed Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile.
Last week, ISPR said the Fatah-4 was equipped with advanced avionics and modern navigation technology, enabling it to strike distant targets with high precision.
The claims regarding the Fatah-2’s capabilities and the success of its test are based on statements issued by Pakistan’s military.
