Dhruv Rathee Calls for London Protest to Intensify Global Pressure on Modi Government Over ‘Vote Theft’ Issue

Popular YouTuber and content creator Dhruv Rathee has announced that he will take the controversy over the transparency of India’s Election Commission and the revision of electoral rolls to the international stage. Hardly had the controversy over his detention and release in India died down when he travelled straight to the United Kingdom. From there, he has called for raising his voice over India’s controversial “vote theft” or “vote chor” issue and the future of democracy.
In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Dhruv Rathee said he has already arrived in London. He has called on Indian expatriates and activists living in London to join a protest rally in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Parliament Square at 12 noon local time next Saturday.
Launching a sharp attack in the post, he said, “I have just arrived in London. Now is the time to present the real truth about ‘vote thieves’ and the murder of democracy before the world. If you are here, join tomorrow’s protest.” Using a Hindi slogan, he also wrote, “The time has come to sound the international drum.”
According to political analysts, Dhruv Rathee has taken this step in order to create intense political pressure on the Narendra Modi government by presenting India’s internal political controversy and the allegations of rigging against the Election Commission in the international arena.
Earlier, on the eve of a protest programme organised in the Indian capital Delhi against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Delhi Police had detained him from his residence in Gurgaon. Although he was released later, the incident caused a major stir in political circles.
