Bangladesh Suffer Seven-Wicket Defeat to Afghanistan

Bangladesh took on Afghanistan with their hopes of reaching the tri-nation series final at stake. However, after a batting collapse and a lack of resistance from the bowlers, they suffered a seven-wicket defeat.
Batting first in Sharjah, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 160 in 41.2 overs. Afghanistan chased down the target, scoring 161 for three in 35.3 overs to secure a comfortable victory.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Bangladesh suffered an early collapse, losing four wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs. Parvez Hossain Emon and Saif Hassan then steadied the innings with a 50-run partnership off 90 balls.
Emon scored 70 off 96 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. Saif made 41 off 82 balls before falling to Mohammad Nabi. Bangladesh’s innings eventually ended at 160 in 41.2 overs.
Afghanistan also faced some early pressure during the chase, losing two wickets for 42 runs in the first 10 overs. However, Rahmat Shah and Ibrahim Zadran took control of the innings with a 50-run partnership off 74 balls.
Zadran scored 34 off 48 balls before being dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman.
Rahmat and Hashmatullah Shahidi then guided Afghanistan home without further trouble. Rahmat remained unbeaten on 67 off 90 balls, including four fours, while Shahidi scored an unbeaten 36 off 54 balls, also hitting four fours.
Afghanistan reached 161 for three in 35.3 overs to win by seven wickets.
The victory strengthened Afghanistan’s position in the final of the tri-nation series. Bangladesh, meanwhile, suffered another major setback after losing to Zimbabwe by 99 runs in their previous match. The consecutive defeats have ended Bangladesh’s hopes of reaching the final.
