Yemen Conflict Intensifies, Leaving at Least 8,500 Casualties in Three Months

The bloody conflict in war-torn Yemen has reached alarming proportions. As ongoing military hostilities intensify, a total of 8,513 people have been killed or injured in the country since early August, according to the latest report from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO reported that at least 1,574 people have been killed and more than 6,939 injured in the conflict since early August.

During the reporting period covering only the latest eight days, 292 people were killed and 1,048 seriously injured. The death toll has continued to rise at an alarming rate as the deadly conflict has dragged on for more than three months.

However, the organisation did not specify how many of the casualties were civilians and how many were members of the military.

The United Nations and the WHO have expressed deep concern over the country’s worsening crisis and severe shortage of healthcare services.
