Iran Announces Plans to Unveil ‘Father of All Bombs’

Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is preparing to unveil a new and powerful weapon. According to a report by Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post, the IRGC has announced plans to introduce something entirely new to its adversaries, describing it as the “Father of All Bombs.”
IRGC spokesperson Hossein Moavavi confirmed the development of the weapon in an interview with Iran’s Young Journalists Club news agency. However, no detailed information has yet been disclosed about the secret weapon’s exact type, destructive power, capabilities or the specific date of its public unveiling.
Analysts believe Iran’s announcement comes shortly after reports that the United States was preparing to use the GBU-43/B, commonly known as the “Mother of All Bombs” (MOAB), against various targets in Iran. Weighing approximately 9.8 tonnes, the US bomb is considered one of the world’s most powerful conventional weapons. It was previously used in Afghanistan to destroy tunnel complexes used by Islamic State (IS) militants.
Meanwhile, Hossein Moavavi claimed that Iran’s missile stockpile had increased by approximately 50 percent following its 12-day conflict with Israel in June 2025. He also said the range, destructive power and accuracy of Iran’s missiles had improved significantly. However, these claims could not be independently verified.
The IRGC has also claimed that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, directly contradicting US assertions that the strategic waterway is open.
