Elon Musk Threatens Democrats with Retaliation

Democrats are planning to investigate Elon Musk’s role and alleged corruption if they win the upcoming US midterm elections. In response, the billionaire ally of US President Donald Trump has issued a direct warning to Democrats.
In a post on his social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Musk wrote, “Those who live by the sword shall die by the sword.” He made the remark in response to a report by the news outlet Politico about Democrats’ plans to investigate his activities if they win the elections.
Mr. Musk, who has repeatedly been known for promoting conspiracy theories on the platform, added that those who opposed him should understand that he would identify the people pulling the strings behind the scenes and target the real decision-makers rather than pursuing their loyal puppets.
Elon Musk, the world’s first trillionaire, is one of the leading financial backers of Trump’s Republican Party. He is a close adviser to the US president and a major beneficiary of government contracts through his space exploration company, SpaceX. He also heads leading electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla.
Mr. Musk provided financial and policy support to help Trump return to power for a second term in the 2024 election. He later led a controversial initiative aimed at reducing government spending and laying off nearly 300,000 federal employees.
Republicans currently control both chambers of the US Congress, the Senate and the House of Representatives. However, political analysts predict that Republicans could lose control of the House to Democrats in the November 3 elections.
If Democrats secure a majority in Congress, they will be able to lead powerful investigative committees, giving them the authority to compel individuals to answer questions and testify. In that scenario, Musk could become one of their principal targets.
Quoting influential Democratic Representative Zoe Lofgren, Politico reported that the extensive list of Musk’s conflicts of interest and alleged abuses of public office was “staggering.”
