Shadman Departs After Century, Hridoy Also Dismissed

Shadman Islam reached his century in the first over of the day but could not extend his innings much further. Towhid Hridoy, who had left the field on a stretcher the previous day after suffering a muscle cramp in his leg, was also dismissed soon afterwards.
Shadman Islam completed the third century of his career off 220 balls, ending a wait of 17 innings for a hundred. His previous century came against Zimbabwe in April 2025. The left-handed opener scored his first Test century in 2021, also against Zimbabwe.
Mr. Shadman was dismissed in the third over of the day after debutant Joshua Bishop trapped him lbw. A review could not save the opener, who finished with 105 off 234 balls, including 11 fours.
The dismissal was Mr. Bishop’s first wicket in Test cricket.
Mr. Hridoy was bowled by Mr. Bishop off the first ball of the latter’s next over. He could not add to his overnight score of 42.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz was batting alongside Litton Das, with the pair carrying Bangladesh’s hopes at the crease.
Latest update: Bangladesh were 242 for five after 86.4 overs in their first innings, with Litton on 23 and Miraz on nine.
