American Public Has Voted Against War, Asserts Ghalibaf

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has framed the Republican defeat in the U.S. midterm elections as a clear stance by the American public against war. He claimed that U.S. voters opposed war either due to the rising cost of living or out of conscience, while warning Washington of dire consequences if it continues to wage war against the will of its people.
Mr. Ghalibaf made these remarks in a post on social media platform X on Wednesday, November 4. ‘Whether driven by conscience or the rising cost of living, Americans have said no to war. We support their stance,’ he wrote.
Warning the U.S. government, the Iranian Speaker added that Washington would face severe fallout if it acts against the public will to serve the interests of international donors and blackmailers. In his words, Iran’s “no” will turn into a nightmare for the United States.
According to a Reuters report, President Donald Trump’s Republican Party suffered a major setback in the U.S. midterm elections held on Tuesday (November 3). With Democrats regaining control of both houses of Congress, political pressure on Trump has intensified.
Alongside U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran, surging energy prices and the cost of living emerged as decisive issues in the election. The election results have also reignited debates surrounding the Trump administration’s Iran policy. Notably, against the backdrop of ongoing tensions and military conflict between the United States and Iran, Mr. Ghalibaf’s statement is being viewed as a significant message regarding Tehran’s political stance.
