Qatar Calls for Salat al-Istisqa on Thursday to Pray for Rain; 136 Mosques and Eid Grounds Ready

Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has called on Muslims across the country to perform the special prayer, Salat al-Istisqa, seeking rain.

The nationwide prayer will be held at 5:59am on Thursday (November 5).

In an official statement, the ministry said 136 mosques and open prayer grounds (Eid grounds) across Qatar had been designated and prepared for the congregational prayer.

The statement urged worshippers to seek Allah’s pleasure through good deeds before the prayer, including sincere repentance, returning what is due to others, fasting and giving generously to charity.

It also called on all Muslims who are able to attend to gather at the designated mosques and Eid grounds and take part in the collective prayer.
