Strengthen Public Safety: Khelafat Andolan

Maulana Habibullah Miazi, Ameer of Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan, has expressed deep concern over the death of an army member in gunfire by human traffickers in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, and the attack on a police member by a drug gang in Rupganj, Narayanganj. The gang broke the police member’s hands and legs and cut his tendons.

He said that the Army and other law enforcement and security forces are now facing threats to their safety. The government must take stronger steps to stop human trafficking and drug trading.

On Friday, an army member named Titas Sheikh, 27, was shot dead during a joint operation by the Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police against human traffickers and armed criminal groups in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

On the other hand, in the North Masabo area of Tarabo Municipality in Rupganj, Narayanganj, a drug gang broke the hands and legs of a police member and cut his tendons. The attack took place because he had spoken out against drugs.

He asked, “If the lives of army members and other law enforcement officers are not safe in this country, who will ensure the safety of ordinary people?”

Maulana Miazi strongly urged the government to send enough army members with powerful weapons to protect the three hill districts. He also called for strengthening the law enforcement forces to protect the lives and property of ordinary people.

He made these demands while speaking as the chairman at a meeting of the central Majlis-e-Amela of Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan after Zuhr prayers on Saturday, November 7.
