BGB Seizes Indian Medicines Worth Tk 1 Crore 

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large consignment of Indian medicines worth nearly Tk 1 crore during a raid in the Panihata border area of Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur. The operation was carried out at dawn on Thursday, August 6, by the Mymensingh Battalion (39 BGB) based on confidential intelligence. Although a significant quantity of Indian medicines was recovered, no one was arrested.

According to the BGB, smugglers were attempting to bring the medicines into Bangladesh using a new smuggling route but abandoned the consignment during the operation. Acting on a tip-off, a BGB patrol recovered the shipment, which is estimated to be worth Tk 8,120,800.

In a press statement, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nurul Azim Bayezid, commander of Mymensingh Battalion (39 BGB), said the BGB remains on high alert to prevent illegal infiltration, drug trafficking, and smuggling along the international border in the Mymensingh and Sherpur regions. He added that strict surveillance and operations against all forms of cross-border crime would continue.
