Four New Members Appointed to PSC

The government has appointed four new members to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). They are Md. Nazrul Islam, Mohammad Ali, Md. Ferdous Hossain and Yasmin Gafur. The Public Administration Ministry issued separate notifications on Thursday, August 6, confirming their appointments.

According to the notifications, the President appointed them as PSC members under the powers granted by the Constitution. They will serve for a period of five years from the date of joining or until attaining the age of 65, whichever occurs earlier. Other terms and conditions of the appointment will be determined in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Other terms and conditions of their appointments will be governed by the relevant laws and regulations. With the appointment of the four new members, the PSC now has 21 members, including the chairman. The commission currently has 20 members besides the chairman.

The PSC is responsible for conducting competitive examinations, including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations, publishing results and making recommendations for appointments to government posts.
