Asif Akbar Pays Emotional Tribute to Khaleda Zia

Singer Asif Akbar remembered late BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia while highlighting the vision of a “New Bangladesh” on the second anniversary of the July Revolution. He described her as a symbol of unity in the memories of Bangladeshis beyond political divisions. In a post on his verified Facebook account on Friday, August 7, Asif paid tribute to those killed and injured during the July Revolution. He described the movement as the long-awaited victory of people seeking freedom.

Referring to Khaleda Zia’s political stance, Asif said her words continue to resonate in people’s emotions. He said her uncompromising position on Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty remains relevant to the younger generation. Highlighting her patriotism, Asif quoted Khaleda Zia as saying, “This country, its soil and its people are my address.” He also noted the strong public emotion expressed at her funeral.

Asif said Khaleda Zia would remain an enduring symbol of unity in the nation’s collective memory beyond political divisions. He added that her sacrifices and struggle would continue to inspire generations.

Addressing Khaleda Zia, he wrote, “Madam, you have succeeded.” He said Bangladesh’s youth carry her uncompromising spirit and that the country would no longer be bound by any form of subjugation. Asif Akbar concluded his post by expressing his deep respect and love for the late BNP chairperson.
