Delayed Rome flight lands in Dhaka

A total of 259 Biman Bangladesh Airlines passengers who had been stuck in Rome on Sunday, as a result of technical difficulties, made their way back to Dhaka. At 12:30 PM Bangladesh time, the BG-306 aircraft made a safe landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, bringing an end to the travellers’ days of extreme anxiety and physical suffering.

The situation started on Friday when mechanics found a mechanical problem during the Toronto-to-Dhaka flight’s planned refuelling stop in Rome. Stranded travellers, including young people and the elderly, had to spend hours in the airport lounge and terminal floor without quick access to bags holding necessary prescriptions because Bangladeshi passport holders lacked entrance clearance. After a lengthy delay, on Saturday, a specialised engineering crew with spare parts was sent from Bangladesh. After they finished the repairs, the passengers’ distress came to an end, and the aircraft was able to take off for Dhaka.
