Netanyahu Rejects Trump’s 15-Point Plan for Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed 15-point peace plan for Gaza, saying Israel will not withdraw its forces until Hamas is fully and effectively disarmed.

Trump’s “Board of Peace” said last month that it had reached an agreement on the “complete disarmament” of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. Hamas, however, said it would consider surrendering heavy weapons only after a full end to Israeli military operations and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces.

At a cabinet meeting on Sunday, PM Netanyahu said, “Israel is directly rejecting this 15-point document.” He added, “The Israeli military will not withdraw any troops until Hamas is actually disarmed.”

President Trump had described Hamas’ acceptance of a disarmament plan as a “historic step toward lasting peace and security.” PM Netanyahu said any disarmament must be genuine, not “fake or nominal,” and that he is discussing the issue with U.S. officials. The plan includes Hamas’ disarmament, an Israeli troop withdrawal and Gaza’s reconstruction. PM Netanyahu’s rejection has put President Trump’s peace efforts under renewed uncertainty.
