Six more children die with measles symptoms

Six more children died with measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, including three in Sylhet, while 1,063 new cases were reported, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The figures were released in the DGHS’s regular measles report on Sunday (August 9).

Since March 15, a total of 775 children have died with measles symptoms, while 98 deaths have been confirmed as measles-related, bringing the overall death toll to 873. In the past 24 hours, 75 confirmed measles cases were detected, taking the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 17,115.

Another 988 people developed measles symptoms during the same period, raising the total to 136,320 since March 15. A total of 118,382 people have been hospitalised with measles symptoms since March 15, of whom 114,142 have recovered and been discharged.
