Power, Energy Crisis Caused by the Previous Autocratic Government’s Unplanned Measures: PM

Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman has blamed the previous Awami League government’s “unplanned” policies for the country’s ongoing power and energy crisis. He said, “I know people across the country, not only in Dhaka but also in many districts and upazilas, are suffering from the power crisis at this moment.” The PM added, “This situation in electricity and energy has arisen because of the unplanned plans and various unplanned measures taken by the authoritarian government that the people of this country ousted.”

He made the remarks on Sunday morning while inaugurating the release and distribution of fish fry in the Old Brahmaputra River at Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj as part of National Fisheries Week 2026. The Prime Minister said the people had elected the BNP because it is a party of the people and that the government would work in the national interest. “Since the people of the country have elected the BNP, BNP is the party of the people. BNP will work in the interests of the country and its people,” he said.

He added that the next session of Parliament would begin on August 27. “In that session, your party and your government will present before the people in Parliament how, InshaAllah, we will solve the country’s electricity problems over the next 10 years,” Mr. Rahman said.
