ECNEC Approves 10 Projects at Tk 9,334 Crore

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 10 projects at a total cost of Tk 9,333 crore and Tk 58 lakh. Six are new and four are revised projects. Government funding will cover Tk 8,488 crore and Tk 71 lakh, while Tk 844 crore and Tk 87 lakh will come as project loans.
Planning State Minister Junaid Saki disclosed the details after the ECNEC meeting in Dhaka on Wednesday (August 19).
The approved projects include replacing and reconstructing unusable structures at Dhaka Medical College, building 19 modern hostels for students of 10 medical colleges, and upgrading bridge maintenance technology under the Roads and Highways Department.
Other projects include protecting Lalmonirhat Sadar from Dharla River erosion, strengthening coastal embankments in Sitakunda, rehabilitating rural roads, strengthening fisheries and livestock capacity, building a 100MW solar power plant in Madarganj, expanding electrical infrastructure in the DESCO area and developing infrastructure at Ramu Cantonment.
The meeting was also informed about nine other projects costing less than Tk 50 crore that had earlier been approved by the Planning Minister.
