New President’s Oath Date Announced

The new president will take the oath of office tomorrow, Friday (August 21), at 7:30 p.m., ahead of the presidential election. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban, according to the National Assembly Secretariat. Governing party Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni informed the media about the ceremony. The acting president, the head of government, cabinet members, political leaders, members of parliament, Supreme Court judges, senior civil and military officials, diplomats and invited guests are expected to attend the ceremony. Former President Md. Shahabuddin resigned on July 24, citing serious physical and mental health issues.
