UK, China congratulate newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul

The United Kingdom and China have congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as Bangladesh’s 23rd President.

The congratulations were issued separately on Thursday through the verified Facebook pages of the British and Chinese embassies in Bangladesh.

In its message, the British Embassy conveyed its warm wishes to Mirza Fakhrul and said the UK looks forward to working with the newly elected President and the Bangladesh government to further strengthen the close and longstanding partnership between the two countries.

China, meanwhile, said Beijing attaches great importance to Bangladesh-China relations and is ready to work closely with Bangladesh to build a shared future in the new era. It expressed hope that such cooperation would bring greater benefits to the two countries and their peoples.
