Global Leaders Congratulate President Mirza Fakhrul Islam

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has received heartfelt congratulations on his election as Bangladesh’s president from world leaders, including the heads of state of China, Pakistan, and India. They conveyed a great deal of hope for closer cultural, economic, and diplomatic relations with Bangladesh under his direction.

During a press briefing, Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said that Beijing values its ties with Bangladesh and is prepared to put important leadership consensus into action. In order to make fresh headway in creating a ‘China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era’, he emphasised that China wants to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and increase interactions in a variety of sectors.

Asif Ali Zardari, the president of Pakistan, congratulated President Fakhrul and urged him to come to Pakistan whenever it would be convenient for him. He expressed confidence that Bangladesh will continue to advance under his leadership. President Zardari praised the recent good momentum in diplomatic relations and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to improving collaboration and people-to-people interaction between Dhaka and Islamabad, highlighting the common history, religion, and cultural ties between the two countries.

Similarly, Indian President Droupadi Murmu congratulated President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, expressing trust in his significant political expertise and lengthy career in public service to ensure a successful tenure. In addition to highlighting recent developments in energy, technology, connectivity, health, and education, she pointed out that India-Bangladesh relations are based on a shared history of sacrifice, close cultural ties, and deep friendship. She also reaffirmed India’s desire to collaborate to further strengthen the diplomatic partnership.
