India Visit Must Be Grounded in Mutual Respect and Equality
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Chief of Amaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition, said that although the head of state is allowed to visit anywhere in the world, even to neighbouring India, all diplomatic interactions must be handled strictly based on equality, respect, and friendliness. Speaking as the keynote guest at an organisational meeting in Rajshahi, he emphasised that Bangladeshis have never tolerated foreign rule and will not do so in the future. Addressing internal concerns, he stated that extortion, corruption, and bribery can be eliminated with a hard hand if officials have true intentions.
Dr. Rahman emphasised Jamaat-e-Islami as an established ideological party dedicated to promoting Islamic values and creating a just society when speaking to party activists. He gave members instructions to uphold public confidence and continue to be watchful at the local level to guarantee that residents may fully enjoy their rights without interference. Party members must actively support the public in defending such rights, he continued.
The Rajshahi District Council Auditorium hosted the conference, which drew over a thousand participants. Secretary Imaj Uddin Mondal moderated it, while Dr. Maulana Keramat Ali, the chief of the Rajshahi City Jamaat, presided over it. The occasion was also attended by central figures, such as Professor Abdul Khalek, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Nurul Islam Bulbul, and Professor Mjibbur Rahman.
