Following the Prophet Muhammad’s (S.) Sunnah and Seerah Is the Only Path to Salvation: Pre-Khutbah Sermons

Mufti Abdul Malek, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, said in his pre-Jumu’ah sermon yesterday that people must follow the Sunnah and Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (S.) for success in both this world and the Hereafter. He said the only path to salvation is to adopt the Sunnah and Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (S.) as the guiding principles of life.

The khatib said Prophet Ibrahim (AS), after building the Kaaba in the holy city of Makkah, prayed to Allah to send a messenger from among his descendants who would recite Allah’s verses and invite people to the religion of Islam. Allah sent the final Prophet, Muhammad (S.), from his lineage. He said Allah had chosen the final Prophet Muhammad (S.) even before Adam (AS) came to the world.

The Prophet Muhammad (S.) said that Allah had chosen him as the leader of all the children of Adam on the Day of Judgment. He also showed people simple righteous deeds through which they can earn the rewards that lead to Paradise. Believers must preserve their good deeds with sincerity and uphold the qualities of the Prophet Muhammad (S.). They should also continue the good practices of their forefathers.

The khatib said that when Angel Jibril (AS) blows the trumpet for the first time, the grave of the Prophet Muhammad (S.) will be opened first. The gates of Paradise will also be opened first for the Prophet Muhammad (S.). Therefore, Muslims must implement the Prophet Muhammad’s (S.) teachings and ideals in their own lives.

Mufti Abdur Rahim Qasemi, Khatib of Mirpur’s historic Baitul Mamur Jame Mosque, said in his pre-Jumu’ah sermon yesterday that no one can become a complete believer without love for the Messenger of Allah (S.). Love for the Prophet Muhammad (S.) is an integral part of faith, and through love for him, believers can attain the love of Allah.

He said true love for the Prophet Muhammad (S.) means implementing his ideals and Sunnah in every aspect of life. For this reason, Allah Almighty instructed believers in the Holy Quran: “Say, if you love Allah, then follow me.” (Surah Al Imran, Ayat 31).

The Messenger of Allah (S.) also said, “None of you will be a complete believer until I am more beloved to him than his parents, children and everyone else.” (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 15).

The khatib said the welfare of humanity lies in loving the Prophet Muhammad (S.) and following his teachings. He urged Muslims to pledge to implement the Prophet Muhammad’s (S.) ideals in every aspect of their personal, family, social and national lives.

He also called on people to develop a life based on righteous deeds and refrain from all kinds of evil, obscenity and sinful activities. He urged Muslims to study the Seerah and biography of the Prophet Muhammad (S.) and, out of love for him, recite Durood Sharif at least 100 times every day if possible.

He concluded by praying that Allah grants everyone the ability to follow the Sunnah and Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (S.). Ameen.
