President Pays Tributes to Martyrs at National Memorial

On Saturday morning, newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir laid a floral wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar in remembrance of the valiant War of Liberation martyrs. After the ceremony, he signed the visitor’s book, placed a memorial tree sapling on the property, and stood in sorrowful silence as a contingent of the armed services presented a ‘Guard of Honour’ accompanied by a mournful bugle melody. In a brief address to reporters, he reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to establishing democracy, defending national sovereignty, and creating the Bangladesh that the victims had envisioned.
Distinguished dignitaries, military leaders, and high-ranking government officials joined the President in paying their respects during the sad ceremony. Strict security measures were implemented throughout Savar and the surrounding regions to preserve order and guarantee total safety throughout the proceedings. The Public Works Department and law enforcement authorities created a unique security cordon around the whole complex.
