Pir Saheb Charmonai Vows to Stand by Teachers in Their Just Struggle

Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh and widely known as Pir Saheb of Charmonai, has described the failure to establish teachers’ rights even 55 years after independence as regrettable.
He said teachers continue to be deprived of their rightful benefits and rights because people lacking morality and those who deceive others have repeatedly taken control of the “steering wheel” of politics and governance. However, he pledged that Islami Andolan Bangladesh would always stand beside teachers in their struggle to secure any legitimate demands. He made the remarks as the chief guest at the central conference of the Jatiya Shikkhak Forum, held at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club on Friday. He said the disasters occurring on land and in waterways are the consequences of people’s own actions. He attributed the current state of the education sector to corruption and money laundering. He said that if corruption is eliminated from the country, it would be possible to meet all of the teachers’ demands, including the nationalization of educational institutions. He further said teachers are the architects responsible for building an ideal Bangladesh and shaping future generations. They must develop themselves in such a way that their morality and standards are never called into question, he added.
At the conference, the central committee for the 2025–26 session was dissolved, and a new committee for the 2027–28 session was announced. Pir Saheb of Charmonai announced Maulana ABM Zakaria as the new central president, Maulana Mohammad Nesar Uddin as senior vice-president, and Mohammad Abdus Sabur as secretary general.

Following the announcement of the committee, the Ameer of Islami Andolan administered the oath of office to the newly appointed leaders. The conference concluded with a special prayer seeking the welfare of the country and its people, as well as the prosperity of the teaching community.
