Tk10,000–Tk200,000 Rewards Announced for Arms Recovery Information

A special unit has been formed within the police to recover looted and illegal firearms. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has announced that anyone providing information leading to the recovery of firearms will receive a reward ranging from Tk 10,000 to Tk 200,000. A crime review meeting covering the past three months was held with senior Bangladesh Police officials at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh on Saturday morning (August 29). Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed attended the meeting as the chief guest.

During the meeting, police officials raised various issues with the home minister, including the need to enhance technological support for officers in the field and other requirements necessary for maintaining law and order. The home minister said the government was working on these issues. He also provided necessary directives to maintain a stable law and order situation.

Responding to questions from journalists after the meeting, Salahuddin Ahmed said instructions had been given to further improve the law and order situation gradually. The home minister said operations to recover firearms looted from various parts of the country would be intensified, alongside a crackdown on illegal firearms. He said the law enforcement agencies had been given the necessary instructions in this regard.

Earlier, during the meeting with the home minister, police officials also highlighted the need for increased technological support in their field operations, as well as various other requirements for maintaining law and order. The home minister said the government was working on these matters.
