LNG Ship to Arrive Wednesday: 700 MMCFD Currently Supplied

The supply of gas from the floating LNG terminals at Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, is constant at 700 million cubic feet. According to a representative of Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company, 520 million cubic feet of gas were supplied from the domestic Summit Power Limited port on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, the US-run Excelerate port was only supplying 180 million cubic feet. Due to the delayed arrival of LNG-carrying cargo, that terminal’s gas supply was limited. The two terminals are supplying 700 million cubic feet of gas to the national grid. When LNG and gas from domestic fields are combined, the nation’s total production is 2,336.6 million cubic feet, while the demand is 3,800 million cubic feet. On average, though, the supply is between 2,600 and 2,700 million cubic feet.

Between 1,050 and 1,100 million cubic feet may be supplied by the two floating LNG terminals at Moheshkhali. However, supply has decreased as a result of an LNG crisis that has continued for almost a month and a half. The gas supply has stayed constant at 700–750 million cubic feet for the past two weeks. Due to the delayed arrival of imported LNG containers, full-scale gas delivery from the two ports is not possible.

Consequently, there are no indications that the nation’s chronic gas issue will get better. The domestic Summit Power Limited terminal’s gas supply rises as an LNG container arrives. On the other hand, to fully utilize the capacity of both terminals, output at the Excelerate Energy terminal, which is run by the United States, has been reduced as a consequence of delays in the arrival of the following vessels.

According to a representative of Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company, which handles LNG imports, the next LNG ship is expected to arrive between September 1 and 2. However, the most recent information is that the ship might arrive at the port on September 2. The Excelerate terminal’s gas supply will continue to be restricted until then.
