Four Young Bangladeshi Engineers Receive the ‘Honda Y-E-S Award 2025
Recently, the Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka organized the prestigious Honda Young Engineers and Scientists (YES) Award 2025 ceremony to honor young technical talent in Bangladesh. Mr. Naoki Takahashi from the Japanese Embassy, Professor Tatsuo Arimoto from the Honda Foundation, actor and evaluator Mr. S. A. Abul Hayat, and Mr. Susumu Mitsuishi, CEO of Bangladesh Honda Private Limited, were among the notable guests, along with university representatives. The goal of this program is to encourage future scientists to solve problems creatively and technically. Mr. Sakif Naib Raiyan, Mr. Kazi Tazgir Tahmin Revan, and Md. Adnan Rahman from BUET, and Ms. Lailatul Borat Siddika from KUET were the four outstanding university students who were recognized as this year’s winners.
Mr. Naoki Takahashi, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Japanese Embassy, emphasized at the event that Honda continuously supports the use of technology for the benefit of society. Highlighting the initiative’s main purpose, he noted that the prize provides an excellent platform for brilliant young brains who will shape the future of science and technology. He expressed a strong belief that the creative ideas and solutions developed by today’s winners will be essential to ensuring the long-term prosperity and sustainable development of Bangladesh as well as the global community.
Professor Tatsuo Arimoto, Executive Director of the Honda Foundation and program evaluator, offered his thoughts, pointing out that the YES Award’s objective is to honor talented young people who can use innovation to advance society. He said he was delighted to see Bangladeshi students’ constant promise and hoped they would help create a sustainable future through expanding their horizons. He added that Japan and Bangladesh will get closer and more cooperative due to these young leaders. The Honda Foundation and Bangladesh Honda Private Limited worked together to bring the YES Award program, which was launched worldwide in 2006, to Bangladesh in 2019.
The four winners each got a diploma honoring their achievements, an official medal, and a prize of $3,000 USD. Through the special ‘Honda YES Plus’ program, winners can also get further financial aid of up to $10,000 USD in addition to this initial recognition. This additional cash is meant to help their specialized research projects and advanced higher education programs in Japan, provided they successfully meet all program requirements established by the foundation.
