Nearly 44,000 Yaba Tablets Hidden Inside Gas Cylinder Seized, 2 Arrested

RAB has arrested two people with 43,770 yaba tablets allegedly hidden inside a gas cylinder of a CNG autorickshaw in Anwara, Chittagong. The arrests were made on Thursday evening, September 3, during a search at a RAB check post in front of Muktijoddha Abul Kashem Market on PAB Road. The arrested are Shafi Alam, 36, of Mahuripara in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, and Abdur Rahim, 47, of Nayapara in Cox’s Bazar Sadar.

According to RAB-7, acting on a tip-off, its members stopped and searched a suspicious CNG autorickshaw. The two passengers allegedly tried to flee and were detained. A search of the vehicle’s gas cylinder led to the recovery of 22 bundles wrapped in Scotch tape containing 43,770 yaba tablets. RAB estimated their market value at Tk 1.32 crore. Anwara Police Station OC Md. Junayet Chowdhury said the two suspects, the yaba and the CNG autorickshaw were handed over to police. They were later sent to court after legal procedures were completed.
