Nationwide Special Measles Vaccination Campaign to Begin This Month: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain has said a special measles vaccination campaign will begin across the country by the end of this month. He made the statement during an exchange of views with doctors and officials after visiting Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on Friday morning. The minister said the government has ensured an adequate supply of measles vaccines. He added that the first phase of the vaccination campaign has been completed in all districts except Rangamati and Bandarban.

Highlighting progress in the health sector, he said, “There have been visible changes in the country’s health sector since the government took office. Recently, I have visited more than 25 hospitals in the country. From my experience of visiting, I can say that in the last 6 months, the quality of medical services in every hospital in the country has increased many times over and I have seen 100% presence of doctors.”

The minister also directed authorities to ensure doctors arrive and leave on time and perform their duties properly at Osmani Hospital within seven working days. He ordered that any drainage and cleanliness problems be resolved within the same period. He also inspected hospital departments and discussed patient services, infrastructure and healthcare quality.
