Bangladesh Condemns Israel’s West Bank Settlement Plan
Bangladesh has strongly condemned Israel’s plans to construct settlements in the E1 area of the occupied West Bank, describing the move as a flagrant breach of global norms. In a statement issued on Thursday (September 10), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that such actions violate international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. Dhaka highlighted that these settlement activities further erode the territorial integrity of Palestine and jeopardize the prospects for a viable two-state solution.
Urging an immediate end to all expansionist activities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Israel to halt settlement building in the occupied Palestinian territory without delay. Simultaneously, Bangladesh reiterated its unwavering commitment to the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian population. Dhaka firmly declared that establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is an undeniable right of the Palestinian people.
Furthermore, Bangladesh appealed to the international community to step up diplomatic efforts to prevent actions that compromise Palestinian statehood. The ministry stressed the absolute necessity of establishing a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East grounded in international law. It emphasized that a genuine peace process must remain anchored in a recognized two-state framework, preventing any unilateral attempts to alter the demographic and geographical reality of the region.
Reaffirming its principled diplomatic position, Bangladesh reiterated its solidarity with the Palestinian people and its dedication to support their lawful aspirations for independence, dignity, and justice. Dhaka emphasized its ongoing commitment to advocating for their full statehood on global platforms. Historically, Bangladesh has maintained a consistent policy of championing Palestinian sovereignty from the very beginning while repeatedly condemning Israeli occupation and unlawful territorial encroachments.
