Putin-Modi talks in Delhi stress dialogue, diplomacy for peace
On the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit held in Delhi, India, India’s Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi met Russia’s President Mr. Vladimir Putin for bilateral talks. This is the second meeting between the two world leaders this year.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that the two leaders held detailed discussions on several important regional and international issues at this high-level meeting. The ongoing conflict in West Asia and the war situation in the Black Sea region reportedly received particular attention in their talks.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that these maritime conflicts are severely disrupting international sea trade. It added that the safety and security of Indian sailors has come under serious threat, a concern voiced by both leaders.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Mr. Modi reiterated his clear message that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way to resolve any kind of conflict or crisis. Mr. Modi emphasized that India remains ready at all times to support any mediation or diplomatic effort aimed at establishing peace.
Issues such as global security, regional instability, and economic cooperation are taking center stage at this annual BRICS summit being held in New Delhi. Against this backdrop, the meeting between the two influential world leaders carries special significance in the global political arena.
