PM Calls on Youth to Come Forward to Build a Clean Bangladesh
“Just as the youth brought about a historic change in the country on August 5, 2024, they must now come forward to build a clean Bangladesh. If the youth want, it is possible to transform the country.”
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman made the remarks as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the nationwide three-month-long ‘Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026’ at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Saturday (September 12) morning.
Joining the inauguration ceremony of the special campaign at 9:40 am, the Prime Minister placed special emphasis on building a comprehensive social movement to prevent dengue. Referring to the dengue situation, he said that although it may not be possible to achieve 100 percent prevention, at least 80 percent of dengue can be prevented through proper awareness and cleanliness. The government will make every effort to address the dengue problem through specific plans and concerted efforts over the next three months.
Emphasising public awareness, the Prime Minister urged the people to take responsibility from their respective positions. “We all have to take responsibility from our respective positions. Let us spend at least one hour every week cleaning our homes and surroundings and refrain from littering roads and public places,” he said.
Expressing his determination to build the country, the Prime Minister further said that the country belongs to everyone, so everyone must work together and remain united to make it a better place. He urged people to keep themselves healthy while ensuring the health and safety of their families, society and the country as a whole.
Members of the Cabinet, administrators of the two city corporations, senior government officials, and young volunteers from various organisations, including the Red Crescent, Scouts, Rover Scouts and BNCC, attended the inaugural ceremony. Officials concerned believe that the Prime Minister’s timely and inspiring call will encourage the general public and young people to take part in dengue prevention efforts.
