Terrorists took advantage of the rift among anti-fascist forces:Deputy Speaker

Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament Mr. Kaiser Kamal has warned that democracy will face a serious threat. He said this threat will grow if anti-fascist forces fail to unite quickly again. He noted that weakened unity among these forces led to terrorism-like incidents in the capital over the past three to four days.

He shared these views at a discussion meeting on Monday afternoon. The event took place at the Senate Building of Dhaka University.

The Deputy Speaker said political ideologies may differ among groups. However, he stressed that everyone must come forward for the country’s interest.

He also noted that the National Parliament spends more time on other discussions than on lawmaking. He said this trend makes the practice of democracy harder each day in the country.

Mr. Kamal pointed to a lack of tolerance in parliamentary debates. He called on all lawmakers to show more tolerance during discussions.
