Syndicate at Dhaka DC LA Branch 3 Dismantled
- Inqilab Report Leads to Transfers of Keshab to Rajbari and Barik to Gopalganj Corruption
The corrupt syndicate operating inside the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner’s office has finally been broken up. Land Acquisition Branch 3 had reportedly been trapped in a cycle of harassment and corruption under surveyors Mr. Keshab Lal Deb and Mr. Md. Abdul Barik.
Daily Inqilab published two separate reports on September 8 and September 13, laying out details of their alleged corruption. These reports, backed by specific case studies, created widespread reaction. The Ministry of Public Administration, the Ministry of Land and the office of the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner all took the matter seriously.
A committee was formed to investigate the allegations, and the inquiry reportedly found preliminary evidence supporting the claims. As a result, the two surveyors at the center of the alleged corruption, Mr. Keshab Lal Deb and Mr. Md. Abdul Barik, have been transferred.
According to an office order dated September 20, issued by the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s office, revenue branch, and signed by senior assistant commissioner Mr. Faisal Al Noor, surveyor Mr. Keshab Lal Deb of the Land Acquisition Branch at the Dhaka DC office has been transferred to the Gopalganj DC office. Surveyor Mr. Md. Abdul Barik of the same branch has also been transferred to the Gopalganj DC office.
In a separate order issued last Monday, surveyor Mr. Monirul Islam, another alleged syndicate member from Land Acquisition Branch 3 of the Dhaka district administration, has been transferred to the Shariatpur DC office. Surveyor Mr. Md. Shahinur Alam has been transferred to the Kishoreganj DC office. Surveyor Mr. Md. Mojibul Haque has been transferred to the Tangail DC office. Surveyor Mr. Md. Selim Reza has been transferred to the Manikganj DC office.
Meanwhile, the Anti Corruption Commission, known as Dudok, has reportedly decided to launch a separate investigation into the members of this alleged corrupt syndicate.
