Can a Mother’s Gifted Land Be Given to Daughters and Wife?

Question: My father gave my mother five percent of land, and my mother later gave it to me. I built a house on the land and live there. I have two daughters and no son. After my father’s death, I helped establish my younger brothers and sisters and arranged my sisters’ marriages with my earnings. Now I want to give the five percent of land to my two daughters and wife. Would this be unfair to my brothers? Would I incur sin?

Answer: If there is no fear of future discord or conflict, you may give your property to whomever you wish. However, when giving property in advance to one’s heirs, it is advisable to follow the principles of distribution prescribed by Shariah.
