‘Another Win-Win for US-Bangladesh Relations’: Brent Christensen

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to purchase 11 more aircraft from US manufacturer Boeing. Ahead of this large-scale procurement agreement, US Ambassador to Dhaka Brent Christensen extended advance congratulations to both Boeing and Biman.

He characterized the agreement as “another win-win for US-Bangladesh relations.” In a message shared on the verified Facebook page of the US Embassy in Dhaka, Ambassador Christensen welcomed the understanding between Boeing and Biman. He noted that the agreement to purchase world-class Boeing aircraft is a major win for the excellent commercial relations between the United States and Bangladesh, benefiting both countries immensely. He also stated that he looks forward to attending the signing ceremony organized in New York.

This initiative to expand the fleet of national flag carrier Biman is viewed as a significant step forward in improving the quality of future airline services. The decision comes amid fierce competition between Boeing and European aircraft manufacturer Airbus regarding the future supply of aircraft to Biman.
The 11 new aircraft to be added to Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ fleet will be considered an additional procurement beyond their previous $3.7 billion deal.
