Arrest Patwari to Uncover Bus Cocktail Attackers: Rashed Khan
Prime Minister’s Special Political Assistant Rashed Khan has said that arresting Nasiruddin Patwari and questioning him in remand would reveal who is setting buses on fire and carrying out cocktail attacks.
Speaking on Tuesday (September 22), he said the BNP has to run the government while dealing with two opposition groups—the 11-party alliance and the Awami League. He said the BNP is currently facing challenges.
Rashed Khan said the opposition group wants to start programmes from December in coordination with the Awami League. He also claimed that Sheikh Hasina wants to return in December. He alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami, the National Citizens Party (NCP) and the Awami League have joined together to create unrest in the country by setting fire to buses and trains and exploding cocktails.
Rashed Khan further said a leader of the NCP had admitted that the Awami League and Jamaat had jointly chosen the path of arson and violence. He said another leader of the same party had claimed that the cocktail explosions would stop if the demands of the 11-party alliance were accepted. He questioned whether those who want to make the elected government fail are not committing crimes.
Rashed Khan also claimed that BNP and its affiliated organisations had faced the highest number of arrests during the July period. He said a long march against a government that has been in office for seven months was not a normal political programme. He alleged that participants were taking photos and making videos in a picnic-style manner in the name of the long march and posting them on Facebook.
Regarding the increase in fuel prices, Rashed Khan said the entire world is facing an energy crisis. He said the government is trying to stand by the people by providing subsidies. He said the government was forced to raise fuel prices in line with international market prices. He said that as a result of the initiatives taken by the government, there would be no electricity or energy crisis in the country within the next two years.
Rashed Khan also said that many people are working to bring back the Awami League. He said that despite having an agreement, Adani sometimes supplies electricity and sometimes does not. He further alleged that the Awami League has become involved in activities and what he described as discourtesy surrounding the Prime Minister’s foreign visit. He said they were damaging the country’s image abroad.
